Hi there!

My name is Steve.
During my process to adopt, I've found putting as much info out there, leaves as little to be guessed/questioned about. My partner at the time and I did the same when we were trying to adopt a child, so here it goes:

Where I live:
-
I’m back living in Seattle/PNW after being in Palm Springs for a year. I’ve lived in Seattle, Bellingham, Whidbey Island and Palm Springs.
-
I currently live in an apartment downtown on 2nd near the waterfront/piers.
-
I want to find a home again/quieter neighborhood, but this is what I have at the moment till August. It's about 1000 sqf with hardwood floors, big windows. It can be a bit of a noisy neighborhood with some colorful comments from people in the middle of the night, buses going by, etc..
About pets:
-
I don’t have any other dogs, cats or kids at the moment, but would love all, and I want to keep open to that in adding others to the mix. A partner with/without a dog would come first.
-
I’ve had two dogs and two cats previously, most recently a cat (Maine Coon Mix) and dog (Bassett hound / Poodle mix . . . yes you heard that right. Low rider with spots, curly hair, bay and splay) as of 3 years ago. They both aged out.
-
I have pre-approval for a dog in my apartment, and the building has some dogs already. This is a historic building. There are no extra services here, and as such there is no pet area for bathroom breaks, socialization. We'll go out in the neighborhood to do our business.

What I'm looking for:
-
I am looking for an adventure partner. I love to hike and run, go to the beach. I have all the camping equipment for that, so I'm ready to go.
-
I’m a seperated 46 year old gay man. As such, the dog needs to be comfortable with kind men.
-
I see dogs as a part of the family, so they should be up for going to dinner at friend's house, traveling in the car to go to work (weather dependent) and new places to explore.
-
I have a fairly flexible job in sales where I will travel up and down the I-5 corridor from BC to Oregon, and I could take my pup with me, where weather permits. COVID permitting, I will go into architecture firms for an hour or so to present. This happens a couple times a day. We can then explore during off time and stay in a hotel, when we are on the road.
-
My parents are in Bellingham so they are willing to care for a pup if I fly and can't take them. I'm up for giving the pup social time at a daycare and we can do training together.
-
Ideally, I'm lookin for:
-
young (or maybe puppy), medium size dog 30 - 55 lbs at full size.
-
I am okay with some work, but they need to be good, or teachable on a leash for walks/runs/hikes.
-
Not aggressive/mouthy with other animals/humans.
-
Because I will have a leased car that's provided with my work, as a necessity, a dog who does not tear apart a vehicle.
-
I haul samples to firms, so I will need room for those supplies and the dog, if we travel together, so no overly big adorable beasts.
-
Mixed Breeds I like - Retrievers, Labs, Shepard, Cattle Dog, Heeler, Terrier, Poodle, etc. etc. (I'm partial to big ears but not a requirement)
-

I hope that answers a lot of it, but I'm happy to chat on the phone / text.
Thanks so much,
Steve
